Queen Rania of Jordan claims Palestinians “hate” Israelis and compares Gaza to Oct 7th.
“Israel had one October 7, the Palestinians have had 156.”
It seems Rania has a short memory regarding her own countries relationship with Palestinians.
1. Jordan is technically Palestine, 70% of the Jordanian population is Palestinian and Jordan was the other half of the Mandate partition. Conveniently Jordan seems to be forgotten when people go on about ‘free Palestine’.
2. In 1951, King Abdullah I was assassinated by a Palestinian from the al-Husayni family.
3. Black September (1970) was an armed conflict between Jordan and the PLO led by Arafat. The growing strength of the PLO in Jordan led to the belief that they could overthrow the Hashemite monarchy, the culmination being the Dawson’s Field hijackings on 6 September 1970 where the PLFP seized 3 civilian passenger airplanes and forced their landing in Zarqa, Jordan where they took foreign nationals as hostages and blew up the planes in front of international press. King Hussein saw this as the last straw and ordered the Jordanian Army into action killing thousands of Palestinians. The PLO were then expelled to Lebanon (that’s another interesting chapter of terrorism for another day).
4. Jordan kept some refugees and integrated Palestinian citizens in Jordan. Palestinians in the West Bank would retain their Jordanian citizenship until Jordan renounced all claims to the West Bank on 31 July 1988 where they lost their Jordanian nationality and citizenship rights.
